Jo Coulthard is a qualified couple, family and individual psychotherapist who specialises in helping people explore long standing problems in their life.
Jo has a wide range of experience working as a psychotherapist within the charity sector as well as private practice, she has helped people with issues of depression and anxiety, relationships, childhood trauma, abuse and domestic violence, addiction and personality disorder.
As a BACP registered psychotherapist Jo adheres to high professional standards and ethical guidelines; she is able to draw on a number of different therapeutic models in order to provide a service that is unique to each person’s needs. Jo is committed to providing a safe welcoming environment, which encourages change to occur within a supportive therapeutic relationship.
Professional Training Jo’s original therapeutic training was in Person Centred Therapy at the University of Western Sydney; following this she completed additional training in Couple and Family Therapy with the Australian Institute of Relationship Studies. Jo’s interest in childhood trauma and how this affects the lives of adults and their relationships, led her to undertake intensive training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy; she completed the training gaining full membership of the New South Wales Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Jo has returned to live permanently in the UK, and continues her commitment to professional development, training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.

Jo holds a particular interest in complex trauma, looking at its origin in childhood experiences, Jo has worked with individuals around the impact of early childhood trauma due to forced adoption practices, parental attachment, intergenerational trauma.
